The crowd cheers. MAVEN is the loudest. He even whistles in triumph for his brother. CUT TO: INT. JFK AIRPORT—DAY. (2015)We see CALEB holding his passport with a flight ticket from JFK, New York to LAX, Los Angeles slipped inside of it. He’s standing outside of check-in. His family is there to send him off. MRS. CALLOWAY has tears in her eyes. The thought of him not beingin New York makes her sad. She’s going to miss him. MR. CALLOWAY: You’ve got everything? CALEB: Yes, Sir. Everything’s packed and ready. MR. CALLOWAY:
Come here and give your old man a hug, will ya? MR. CALLOWAY pulls CALEB into a hug and embraces him. He pats hisoldest son on the back, holding back the tears, but he fails. MR. CALLOWAY:(says into Caleb’s ear)You’re a smart boy, you hear me? You stay out of trouble. Promise to call? CALEB nods and hugs his dad one last time. MAVEN stands there holding a wrapped gift in his hands. It’s rolled up and meant to be open when CALEB gets to LA. He is sad, but wants the best for his brother and this is the best for him. MAVEN: (hands him the gift) For you. Don’t open it until you get to LA. Promise me that. CALEB:You know I hate surprises, but cross my heart…They pinky swear. MAVEN: Are you nervous?CALEB: Who wouldn’t be? It’s an internship. In LA. At THE NaturalHistory Museum of Los Angeles. MAVEN:Knock them dead, Dino Freak. CALEB can’t help, but smile. After all those years, MAVEN still resorts to calling him ‘Dino Freak.’ It never fails to bring a smile to his face. The two brothers hug before CALEB has to catchhis flight.
CUT TO:EXT. NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM OF LOS ANGELES—DAY (2015)It is early in the morning.People are rushing to work because it’s a Monday. CALEB is dressed in formal, office clothes. He’s shaved and new to the city of LA. He doesn’t have an inch of hate or frustrationin his body. He adjusts his glasses, walking up the steps with a stack of index cards in his hands. On them, he has random dinosaur facts and facts about himself in case he gets too deep into talking about dinosaurs. CALEB:(mutters to himself) First dinosaur ever to be found...the megalosaurus. Found in 1819, by British fossil hunter William Buckland. He looks over his notes, shaking his head. CALEB:(talking to himself) You’re Caleb Calloway. You’ve got this. You’ve gotten this far. You can’t go wrong. INT. NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM OF LOS ANGELES—DAYMYLES meets CALEB by the information desk. He doesn’t seem keen by Caleb’s presence. Caleb is nervous and ready to talk about dinosaurs. He wants to show Myles’ how smart he really is and how grateful he is to be there. MYLES:Mr. Calloway, I’ve seen a handful of interns over my years andfrom your application, I know you’re interested in paleontology. From my experience, I want you to put away the index cards and
paleontology for a second and tell me about yourself. Can you dothat?CALEB:(shocked)Well...I’m Caleb. As you already know...MYLES glances over at his watch. MYLES: I don’t have much time to waste here, Mr. Calloway. If you can’tanswer such a simple question, I can’t have you working on thefossils today. So, figure out who you are and until then, you’regoing to be working with Sandy by the information desk. MYLES motions over to Sandy, an elderly woman in her sixties. CALEB opens his mouth to speak and for once, he’s speechless. Foronce, nothing seems to make sense. MYLES: Welcome to LA, Mr. Calloway.
