(P) How does that affect us as consumers? (P) Because small, diverse farms decreased, huge farms that only produce corn or soybeans took over the market. (P) You can find corn or soybeans in almost all of our food because both products can be manipulated to become different ingredients. (P) These ingredients are the culprits of all unhealthiness in our diets due to the overwhelming amounts of sugar provided in these foods. ( C ) Therefore, from what I have learned, if small farming communities such as historic Shakopee are to survive, policy must change for the benefit of the producer and consumer rather than for the giant corporations like Walmart and Cargill. Nate Carlson, Shakopee P) Due to current governmental policies, small-town farmers cannot afford or produce enough to meet standards. C) Governmental policy is the cause of the depletion of small-town farms. P) This affects consumers.
