The duties of the Prime Minister are as follows: 1.An advisor to YDPA. 2.Named the list of Cabinet ministers for appointment by YDPA. 3.Preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. 4.Coordinating all national policies. 5.Nation's spokesperson for international and domestic affairs. 6.Advise YDPA to dissolve parliament when it term expires.

Dismissal of Prime Minister 1.The sacking of the Prime Minister can be done through a motion of no-confidence against the Prime Minister by 2/3 members of the House of Representatives. 2.If the House of Representatives passes the no-confidence motion, the Prime Minister has two options, namely: a) resign; or b) request to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to dissolve Parliament to enable the general election to be held.

LEGISLATIVE BODY Legislature is a deliberative assembly with the authority to make laws for a political entity such as a country or city. Article 44 : Legislature in Malaysia is known as Parliament which consists of three elements: 1. His majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA). 2. Dewan Negara (upper house). 3. Dewan Rakyat (lower hall).

YDPA Although the YDPA is part of Parliament, he did not attend a regular session of Parliament. He is only present at the opening ceremony of the new parliamentary term/session which is usually in the beginning year, when both councils held joint meetings which were also attended by dignitary guests such as foreign ambassadors, judges and others. In this session he will convey the king's decree explaining the national policies. Nevertheless, he played an important role in the course of Parliament as provided for by the Constitution.

Article 66 (1) - that the bill should get his consent before being approved by Parliament to become law. Article 55 - empowering YDPA to summon, suspend and dissolve Parliament with the advised of PM.

Dewan Negara (Senate) The Senate has 70 members including elected and appointed and consisting of three groups, (Article 45 (1) namely: 1.The members elected by each State Legislature (two persons for each state). 2.Four persons appointed by YDPA to represent Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya. 3.Members appointed by the YDPA are 40 members.

Since members of the Dewan Rakyat are usually elected to represent the majority, then the Senate (Dewan Negara) is held to represent the states and other public interest groups. This makes the parliament really represent all parties ( trully representative ).

Senate Membership 1. Article 45 (2) - Members appointed by the YDPA consist of those who have made excellent services in the civil service, or a well-known person in his or her profession or in the field of business, enterprise, agriculture, art or public welfare, or representing persons a small community or a person who can represent the interests of the Orang Asli.
