Lastly, interest groups institute grassroots mobilization is essentially a way to prove to the government that an interest groups support goes beyond its most prominent members, to its common constituents, when constituents who support the interests of that group e-mail, call, or contact their local, state, or federal governments. Evidently, all three of these methods serve the purpose of promoting an interest group’s interest, and even though they are all fundamentally unique, they serve a common purpose and are all methods utilized by interest groups.

Because interest groups and lobbyists can represent them are often imperative in the passage of legislation, the federal government has taken action in regulation the power of lobbyists in order to maintain an equally representative democracy. One specific regulation is enumerated in the Federal Regulation of Lobbying Act of 1946, which requires lobbyists to register with the Clerk of the House of Representatives and the Secretary of the Senate, fully reporting their name, address, employer, the interest group’s interest, and other information, including length of employment, salary, and expenses.
