Aboriginal Catholic Ministry Buckland Street Waterloo NSW 2017 (02) 9698 4265 Aboriginal Catholic Ministry provides interface between all Aboriginal people and the Catholic Church. It provides services such as counselling and access to education directed towards practical assistance. 2). Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) Level 6, 33 Argyle Street Parramatta NSW 2150 (02) 8836 9444 Their goal is “to ensure every Aboriginal person in NSW has equal access to, and choice in, affordable housing . AHO provides information and advice about housing options and issues. It also ensures that referrals are made to appropriate agencies. 18. List 2 advantages of liaising with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in an ECEC service. One advantage of liaising with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders is that I would have the privilege to learn about their actual culture, history and issues. Then integrate that knowledge into the service program. Another advantage would be to assist them to connect with other people from the same background. 19. How could ECEC services involve Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people to evaluate their cultural safety strategies and their programs? 20. Suggest 2 strategies that will develop effective relationships with educators and clients including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. Include any resources or services that could assist you in this area. 1) I would display Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags and some artworks around the service. It shows the service is culturally safe and welcoming, and a place they can assimilate into without discomfort.
