me to stay up to date on newly researched outcomes that has a positive effect on health of
populations. Professional organization can influence my practice for the better by being a
member I am able to obtain research findings more readily to disseminate into practice

The concepts identified in this exemplar are leadership and professional values.
Clinical leadership-to motivate, to inspire, to promote the values of patients, to empower
and create a consistent focus on the needs of patients being served. Leadership is
necessary not just to maintain high standards of care, but to transform services to achieve
even higher levels of excellence (Stanley, D. & Stanley, K., 2018).
Professional values
are values acquired during socialization into nursing from codes of ethics, nursing
experiences, teachers, and peers (Al-Banna, 2017).
Reflect
As a newly graduate Family nurse practitioner, it is important to have a plan to
transition smoothly from a student to an expert and to secure a future position as an FNP.
A PDP should include the nurse’s understanding of their state’s scope of practice and
nurse practice law. It is also vital to identify personal strengths, limitations, goals, and
objectives to build upon to be an effective advanced practice nurse. By utilizing
networking and marketing strategies, I can stay connected to up-to-date information and
meet like-minded individuals who can help secure a future position as an FNP. By joining
professional organizations at the local and national level, I will be taking a proactive step

to become a life-long learner and optimize the best evidence in practice, which will help
them provide the highest quality of care. Another

Grand Round Assignment
Decision-making in acute care nursing requires an evaluation of many complex
factors. While decision-making research in acute care nursing is prevalent, errors in
decision-making continue leading to poor patient outcomes (Nibbelink, & Brewer, 2018).
This exemplar emphasized the decision-making process, through researching relevant
evidence base knowledge on dementia to make an informed decision needed to safely and
effectively prescribe and monitor pharmacotherapeutics for the treatment of patients with
dementia.
Dementia is the progressive loss of many cerebral functions that leads to a
decrease in orienting, memory, language as well as alterations in behavior. Dementia can
be classified according to etiologic factors such as trauma, tumors, vascular disorders,
infections. Dementing processes have been grouped as cortical, subcortical, or both.
