Introduction of the Lesson Bell Ringer questions Students will have 2 minutes to answer the following questions regarding information from yesterday's lesson as a review: Who invented the printing press? What language did Erasmus translate the Christian bible into? 3. Teacher Modeling /Direct Instruction Multimedia powerpoint presentation 4. Critical Thinking Questioning / Guided Practice Informal probe asking the similarities between the protestant sects 5. Independent or Group work Group 1: What was the main reason as to why King Henry VIII decided to break away from the Roman Catholic Church? How did he strengthen the power of his new Anglican Church? Group 2: Write a one-page summary of what you learned in class today using at least 3 vocabulary words or important people Group 3: Define Predestination. What form of Protestantism believed in this idea? What was the name of the American version of this form of Protestantism? The students will have 5-7 minutes to work collaboratively to answer their group's question(s). After the given time limit, one person from each group will present their work.
