Exports included Energy products such as natural gas & crude oil, vehicles, machinery, agricultural products, red meats, vegetables, live animals, process fruits & vegetables, and a big portion of our exports was professional and technical services. Imports from the US into Canada in 2013 was approx $300 billion which included the following categories: Imports included vehicles, electrical machinery, mineral fuel & oil, prepared foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, snack foods and non- alcoholic beverages. BUS4032 International Logistics Important Organizations in the US pertaining to International Trade Us Department of Homeland Security: Formed in 2002 as an initiative after the 911 attacks to secure itself from terrorist attacks. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE): Formed in 2003, part of Home Land Security. They are the largest investigative branch for Home Land security and acts as the enforcement agency to protect the USA from threats and acts of terrorism. They investigate and target people, money and material involved in criminal and terrorist activities, fraud, criminal organizations, deportations, smuggling etc. Customs & Borders Protection Service (CBP): Created in 1789 and is mainly responsible for enforcing the trade/commerce and processing passengers etc.. They deal with duty classification and tariffs, exported merchandise, fines, penalties & forfeitures, seized properties, other activities dealing with trade & commerce. 8

Export Declaration – comprises of all declarations, permits and documents for goods going to a particular place during a specific period of time. Ex Temporary entries such as samples and sales exhibitions etc. Submitted to CBSA in one of four ways: Canadian Automated Export Declarations (CAED) Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Export Reporting Form B13A Export Declaration Form Export Summary Reporting forms on a monthly basis All of the above are used by customs brokers and a customs broker can arrange all documents and paperwork required for entry. 9

The following documents are required for entry into the US: Entry Manifest customs form 7533 lists all cargo in shipment Special permit for immediate delivery form 3461 is used to speed up entry into the US, you have 10 days to complete the customs entry form 7501.
