There is no Solutions Enabler or Unisphere for VMAX interface to enable or disable SRDF Coordination. Only VMAX3 to VMAX3 is supported. Performance metrics are periodically transmitted from R1 to R2, across the SRDF link. The R1 metrics are merged with the R2 metrics. This instructs FAST to factor the R1 device statistics into the move decisions that are made on the R2 device. Service Level Objectives (SLO) associated with R1 and R2 devices can be different. The extra half cylinder is not addressable by a host and cannot be replicated. The GCM attribute can only be set for volumes on arrays running VMAX3. A volume with GCM attribute set is referred to as a GCM device and its size is referred to as the device’s GCM size. The attribute can be set or unset manually using the set command in conjunction with symdev/symdg/symcg/symsg with a new -gcm option. for most operations, Solutions Enabler sets it automatically when required. For example, Solutions Enabler automatically sets the GCM attribute when restoring from a physically larger R2. It will be set automatically as part of the symrdf createpair operation. RA CPU resource distribution for Synchronous, Asynchronous, and Copy modes can be set either system wide which will affect all RAs or can be set on a subset of RAs. The resource distribution can be enabled or disabled. The system defaults as seen in the slide are 70/20/10 for Sync/Async/Copy modes. As shown here, for purpose of illustration, the distribution can be changed for one of the directors if necessary. In this case RA-1E has been changed to 50/40/10 for Sync/Async/Copy modes. 48 Copyright 2015 EMC Corporation. All rights reserved. This lesson covered SRDF Decisions Support operations. Considerations for performing these operations were presented in detail. Concurrent SRDF where one R1 device is simultaneously paired with two R2 devices was also discussed. SRDF/Synchronous Operations

49 Copyright 2015 EMC Corporation. All rights reserved. This lesson covers performing SRDF/S DR of a VMFS datastore. Datastore is created on the R1 device and synchronized with the R2 device in SRDF/S mode. The device pair is failed over and the copy of the datastore on the R2 device is accessed from an ESXi server connected to the remote VMAX3 array.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
