The use of open space is very confining o Anxiety inducing, particularly in the way nature will be handled  throughout the movie Man made maze with the constrictive deadly coal o Interesting contrasting views of the natural The opening music o The “judgment day” motif from the mask of the dead o Referencing judgment day, as well as death o Right away you intuit that the music is not appropriate (very solemn,  like a dirge) The play off between music and image is always something you  can instinctually grasp Weird sense of deep, unnaturally deep space o Even when you’re in open space, you get the sense of confinement Places and setting As the camera pulls around he’s playing games with the space by making it
