percentage of GDP and the thicker line expresses the per capita growth. To summarize, the graph gives us a representation that the more aid that is sent to Africa, the more the economy goes downhill. Partnership between Africa and the countries that try to aid it will be the most helpful alternative for countries such as Africa. While watching the documentary Poverty inc. director Michael Matheson Miller, is very strong in his belief that foreign aid is holding back countries in poverty. Now, this is not to say that the people providing the aid are doing this intentionally, their heart is in the right place. Source D. explains, that the people going on mission trips truly believe they are helping the poor immensely. Source D explains “Mission trips are a great personal journey as well as an important necessity to the communities of other countries where people are in great need.” In light of all this the documentary supplied sufficient evidence to prove that these aid
companies are hurting more than helping. Conclusion: If this change from paternalism to partnership doesn’t occur, these less fortunate countries will continue to suffer. In order to transform this, countries willing to aid less fortunate ones should be aware how detrimental it is for their economy and start to switch to partnership. This issue involves everyone, and the people receiving aid want the change but have no power to do so. It is in our hands to truly make a difference.
