service is a way for health care organizations to utilize reimbursement from the government.A.Determine how violating health regulations and laws regarding technology could impact the finances of the institution if these violations are not addressed. Be sure to support your response with examples. When dealing with patient’s information, it is important to understand how to handle the process of using the electronic health record while still following the privacy and security rules. Every person working in the health care field should know and follow HIPAA regulations. HIPAA stands for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Servicesdeveloped these regulations in order to protect patient’s health information (“Health Information Privacy”, 2013). When an employee violates this law, there can be severe consequences that follow. These breaches can be texting another person about a patient’s file, distributing their information on social media sites, not handling their records in a safe and secure manner, or illegally accessing a patient’s file without permission (“20 HIPAA Violation Cases”, 2017). Anyone who openly discloses a patient’s health information can face up to a year in prison and a fine of $50,000 and can reach up to $100,000 and 5 years in prison. It gets worse if you are selling patient’s information for money or personal gain or even trying to get back at someone can be up to $250,000 and 10 years in prison (“HIPAA Violations”, 2019). Another issue is that their technology is out of date and they are aware of this, which would result in negligence. Therefore, they could face up to $50,000 in fines due to this. Determine how violating health regulations and laws regarding technology could impact the daily operations of the institution if these violations are not addressed. Be sure to support your response with examples. At Featherfall Medical Center, the staff does not use the correct, up-to-date technology. Some do not even use the technology that is put in place and inappropriately. This has led to communication issues and ethical problems. Valuable information can be lost which can increase medical errors. This can result in delays and missed steps. Patient safety and their quality of care is not seen as important and it is not valued (Cain & Haque, 2008). Just by knowing this information tells me that patients are not being treated fairly and as quick as they should. Their information could be leaked, hacked, or sold. This means
