to special counsel before making partner. If you want to leave the firm, the exit opportunities are great. Our practice group is highly rated and we have a strong roster of institutional clients. You could choose to go in-house to one of our clients or take on a more adventurous senior role at another company. If you wanted to move firms, I’m sure that there will be many opportunities to do so.” • “Exit opportunities are plentiful given the firm’s reputation. Not all associates will be provided the opportunity to reach partnership, but certain associates may be transitioned into special counsel roles. Promotion possibilities may be limited by practice group and existing staff at upper levels of seniority.” Pro Bono Commitment • “The firm is very committed to pro bono and 300 pro bono hours count towards the billable requirement. We are constantly offered opportunities to take on new and interest pro bono assignments. There is a mandatory minimum of 20 pro bono hours.” • “Firm encourages pro bono work and takes it seriously. Partners do a good job of treating pro bono commitments just like they’d treat any other client commitment—i.e., there’s no palpable preference for billable work like at some other firms.” • “The firm is always sending out pro bono information and offering ways for associates to get involved in the community. Recently, I worked on a purchase and sale transaction between two non-profit community programs.” • “I recently conducted legal research for a non-profit group that focuses on outreach within the Muslim community. We researched the legality of President Trump’s proposals with respect to immigration, registration and surveillance. It was interesting and rewarding. The firm has strong relationships with public defenders in NYC and numerous non-profit organizations.” Diversity Efforts • “I do think the firm attempts to hire women, minorities, and LGBT individuals. Like everywhere, the firm does have issues with the retention and promotion of these groups. This year, one woman made partner while 7 men did. It’s a work in progress...” • “The firm seems to be working to improve retention of diverse attorneys, but there is work to do. The hiring of diverse attorneys is strong.” • “Although the partnership ranks at the firm are not as diverse as they could (or should) be, the firm has implemented numerous initiatives to promote diversity and the associate ranks are fairly diverse. The firm has especially generous policies relating to parental leave, which go a long way to retaining women.” • “They do a very good job at the junior levels. However, I think they focus on acquisition more than retention. Therefore, less diversity is apparent at higher levels.”

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
