Alternative to SONA
An alternative extra-credit opportunity is
available to students who cannot
participate in SONA (e.g., who have not
yet attained the age of 18) or who do not
wish to participate in research. Details of
this alternative will be made available to
students upon emailed request to one of
the Administrative Assistants (grad
TAs). All such requests must be made
before Saturday, October 10.
Other extra-credit options
Extra-credit quiz: One short extra-credit quiz will be given at some point during the semester.
Extra-credit practice exam: One extra-credit practice exam will be available at the start of the
semester. It is intended to help familiarize students with the online exam interface only; the
practice exam questions are not indicative of actual exam questions.
Extra-credit questions on exams: Each exam will have one extra-credit question. These are
mainly intended to help compensate for instances where a regular exam question may strike
some students as confusing, oddly worded, or otherwise problematic.
No other extra-credit opportunities are available beyond these. No
individual extra credit will ever be authorized. Please do not ask.


Departmental SONA policies
 SONA will be available from 8/24/20 – 11/20/20.
 The last day to make changes to the credit record is 11/25/20.* at 4pm.
 Any student who no-shows three times will be locked out of SONA for
the rest of the semester and lose all research credits.
*Note: The deadline for making changes for this particular class is 11:59pm
on 11/21/20 because the instructor will pull the SONA report for this class at
that time.

Extensions are never an option

cannot be extended nor can they be reopened
for anyone once they
expire, for any reason. Students always have at least two full weeks (usually three) to complete
each assignment.
Each weekly response must be submitted before 11:59pm Eastern Time on the
Saturday of its respective week.
Weekly responses absolutely will not be accepted at any time
thereafter and cannot be made up in any way. Please do not even ask.

Students may miss up to 3 (of 12) weekly responses without penalty.
