and more concise results which are helpful in determining patterns. It is possible to learn more about cause and effect relationships through these types of research studies and connections can be made more clearly. The biggest weakness in a panel study is that it is time-consuming. It takes a long time for studies to be conducted and for results to emerge. They require large sample sizes which mean that your study must have a large number of cooperating subjects. Thiscan become difficult over a long period of time due to death, refusal, or changes in contact information.
Lab experiments usually consist of the controlled manipulation of a single factor to determine itsimpact on another factor. Its strengths lie in the fact that you have precise control over the variables and that your experiment can be replicated many times so that you may achieve your desired result. Lab experiments can be weak due to the artificiality of the experiment. This studyis not typical of real life situations, it is conducted in a strange environment and the subjects maybe asked to perform unusual tasks which may result in distorted and/or limited behavior. It is also not possible to completely control all variables. In field experiments people are studied in their typical environment, so they are more likely to react naturally than they would in a lab which leads to a better external validity. You may also be able to use a larger scale setting such as a school or workplace. Weaknesses of field experiments
