The accommodation request imposes responsibilities and obligations on both the individual requesting the accommodation and the College. Faculty members are expected to reasonably accommodate individual religious practices. Examples of reasonable accommodations for student absences might include: rescheduling of an exam or giving a make-up exam for the student in question; altering the time of a student’s presentation; allowing extra-credit assignments to substitute for missed class work or arranging for an increased flexibility in assignment dates. Regardless of any accommodation that may be granted, students are responsible for satisfying all academic objectives, requirements and prerequisites as defined by the instructor and by the College. Technology Course materials are located on the OAKS learning management system. Materials will be loaded within the first several weeks of class. If you are not familiar with OAKS, please view the online tutorial at: . Please log-on to OAKS and elect to receive news notifications for this course (by email or text message). Cell phones must be turned off or in silent mode during class. Texting/messaging on any device while in class is not acceptable under any circumstances. Laptop computers are allowed for note-taking or class-related activities only. We will investigate topics together in class. As such, I encourage you to have access to a computer or tablet regularly. Attendance Regular and timely attendance is required. Attendance is taken at each class meeting, and it is your responsibility to ensure your attendance has been recorded. Absences will be excused only with a memo from the Absence Memo Office. You are allowed two unexcused absences. Three or more unexcused absences will result in the loss of ten points in your Attendance and Participation per absence. You will receive a “WA” (withdrawal for excessive absences) if you have excessive absences. Participation in In-class Activities also count toward your grade. These activities may take place in-class without prior notice. You must be present to receive credit for these activities. Attendance, active participation, and in-class activities and discussions are a course requirement and count for a significant portion of the final course grade. Remember that attendance does not equal participation. Inclement Weather If the College of Charleston closes and members of the community are evacuated due to inclement weather, students are responsible for taking course materials with them in order to continue with course assignments consistent with instructions provided by faculty. In cases of extended periods of institution-wide closure where students have relocated, instructors may articulate a plan that allows for supplemental academic engagement despite these circumstances.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
