Spanish-American war, it was the first time the US had defeated a European
power. Taking Cuba and Philippines from Spain. President Theodore Roosevelt,
had Congress build a huge and powerful Navy, called "The Great White Fleet"
then he sent them on a round-the-tour to show every nation how serious America
would be if anyone took them on in a war.
The Manifest Destiny was one of the first events that exemplified Americans
imperialistic nature that would only continue to expand as time went on.
