society to embrace the “everyone is good enough” also known as the “everyone gets a medal” mentality. For instance, all elementary schools hold annual science fairs. Lots of children come up with a subject perform the work and do an excellent job. However, some children may procrastinate, and turn in a project that is barely considered complete. accomplishment of the top place winners have now been diminished; all for the sake of not hurting any feelings or making sure that all children know that they did a good job too. By doing this we slowly teach children no matter how hard they try, they will still be successful. As these children grow into adulthood, their minds have been programed to underperform and still reap a benefit, leading to a lack of good work ethic, and plain laziness. Parents hold a great responsibility to prepare their children to become a productive member of society. Now no parent ever wants to tell their children that they are not good enough to be anything. But parents tend to purpose one of the biggest lies by telling their children “you can be anything you want to be when you grow up.”
