This leads to diseases going untreated and unmanaged, leading to future emergency visits. Without screenings for diseases, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, community acquired diseases, and other conditions develop over time when the effects could have been minimized or prevented. The national US index average for crime is 280.5, in Garland in 2016, the index was 274.2, violent crime rat average was 189.4 whereas it was 216.0 nationally. Property crime rate was higher in Garland than nationally. The U.S average was 216.6, and 288.2 in Garland (City-Data.com, 2018).
