The Orion Star Nursery (Fraknoi, 2007) a. This is where stars are formed. b. The Orion Nebula contains some of the youngest stars in the galaxy. Maybe not more than 10,000 years old. XI. The Milky Way (Science Daily, 2011) a. The Milky Way is a Spiral Galaxy a.i. The Milky Way is 100,000 light years in diameter. a.ii. Our galactic location is precisely at the edge of the Orion Arm, about 2/3 rd from the center of the galaxy. b. What’s at the Center of the Galaxy b.i. A globular cluster of old stars encircles the center of the galaxy. b.i.1. There is no place there for human life. b.ii. What is in the center of the universe? b.ii.1. It is full of massive radiation and things that seem impossible, but in fact exist. b.ii.1.a. This includes quasars, stars in collision, and even blackholes. b.ii.2. Running Head: FROM HERE TO INFINITY: THE ULTIMATE VOYAGE b.ii.3.a. The theory is that a wormhole can transport you from point of the universe to another. b.ii.3.b. At the end of this wormhole is Andromeda. b.ii.3.c. The Hubbell Telescope shows Andromeda has twin nuclei, which means that it has at collided with and absorbed at least one other universe, however, Andromeda is pulling ours toward it. b.ii.3.d. Clusters are groupings of galaxies, that make up bigger groups. b.ii.3.e. M87 has an ultra massive black hole at its center. c. What is the Great Attracter? c.i. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
