Given these points, it would be reasonable to say that both heroes maintained a stable, (non-sexual) loving relationship in which they supported each other at moments of insecurity and challenge. Specifically portraying Enkidu as the voice of reason inside of Gilgamesh, of course, to counsel about what would be the most logical thing to do in any case. The drastic change in personality was an effect of his relationships throughout the story, honoring his title of king being now a great leader of the people of Uruk. While the ultimate goal of Gilgamesh seeking immortality was frustrated, his story will still live for eternity, present in the ancient tablets that narrate his journey from being a despicable tyrant to being a recognized, honorable hero.
