SharePoint Portal Templates SharePoint Server 2013 also has, along with the site templates described so far, a set of templates that are available only to technical administrators of SharePoint for creating new site collections. These templates are used to create new root sites within a SharePoint environment. However these templates are not available when you create new subsites within your portal. 1. Developer Site The Developer Site template is designed to support the creation, testing, and publishing of Apps for Office and SharePoint. This site includes links to resources to help build Office and SharePoint apps and links to help publish these apps to the online store. You can use this site template as your starting point for creating and publishing your SharePoint 2013 Apps. Figure 2- 24 depicts the layout of the site created from the Developer Site template located on the Collaboration tab of the Create Site Collection page. Site collections are created by SharePoint administrators through the SharePoint Central Administration site.
