that she wants people to notice 4. I chose this quote because ot shows the way the way that Myrtle wants to be treated. It shows that she wants to live in a world outside of Ash City where she can feel elegant and have people compliment her when she wears extravagant dresses. This quote shows that Myrtle wants to be able to show off the things that she she can’t have in her society which is why she changes three times throughout the chapter. We learn from Myrtle that in this book, what seems to matter is the material items you have and how much you own of it. We can understand it by the way Myrtle dismisses the compliment she receives about her dress and tries to tell the person that the dress doesn’t really matter when it does because she wouldn't have change for a third time if she didn’t like it so much. This relates to the world because most people lives revolve around material items and try to dismiss how hard they worked or how much they care about it because they want to seem like they have power over people from the items they own. 5. “People were not invited - they went there. They got into automobiles which bore them out to Long Island, and somehow they ended up at Gatsby's door. Nick is describing how many people just show up at the party much like the way parties are thrown today. Her Nick expresses how formal he is to the and does not feel 5. I chose the quote because it shows the progression of the acceptable behavior that is changing in this era. It shows it because Nick, who received an invitation, describes that no one showed up with an invitation which seemed to really surprise him by the way they would just show up to a party without even knowing the host. It shows that the manners of respecting the host or having proper

behavior associated with an amusement park. Sometimes they came and went without having met Gatsby at all, came for the party with a simplicity of heart that was its own ticket” (Fitzgerald 41). comfortable just showing up because he only went to the party when he was invited. Nick noticed that the people who came generally didn't bother to meet the host and only came to have fun. I think that Nick believes that you should always have manners even when attending a popular party. etiquette is starting to lose its appeal in this era. I also picked this quote because it shows that the people in this book seem to believe that they should get to go places because they feel entitled to it. We can see this when Nick talks about the desires of the people’s hearts to be there is supposed to be their ticket. This quote relates to the world a lot of people believe that they are entitled to have the many things and they deserve to go somewhere just because they want to. We see this when people argue
