The government of Mozambique awarded Movitel a license in November 2010. To win the third telecom license in Mozambique in 2010, Viettel has surpassed 12 rivals from many continents. Viettel won not because of giving up the highest price, but achieved a high technical points (90/100 points). Differentiation - that is the business philosophy of Viettel. Accordingly, Viettel invests heavily in large and remote areas. In the Mozambique market, as soon as it received a license in January 2011, Movitel quickly built the infrastructure and by November 2011 had the largest coverage, surpassing its two rivals ruling the market during 15 years which are Vodacom and mCel. On May 15, 2012, Movitel officially launched the service, opened up an unprecedented competition in this market. IV. Viettel business results in Mozambique and in Africa. 1. Achievements in Mozambique Mozambique was a big success for Viettel. The Movitel project of the Vietnamese company ranked number 1 in terms of infrastructure, subscriptions, market share, revenue ... and won 5 international award in the field of telecommunication. CEO Nguyen Duc Quang said that after nearly 3 years of operation, Movitel had become the country's largest telecommunications network with 3,000 broadcasting stations and 27,000 km of optical cable, accounting for 38% market share (about 4 Million subscribers). Ms Safura, the chairman of Movitel, in a rare conversation with journalists from Vietnam, repeated the phrase "Movitel has changed the lives of Mozambique people". With appropriate steps, the results have arrived in the Mozambique market. Sales of the second half of 2012 reached $ 70 million, 2013 reached $ 155 million, and $ 170 million in 2014. "We are determined to return the investment by 2017," CEO Nguyen Duc Quang confidently talked about Movitel's goal. “Viettel will invests in other fields besides telecommunications such as pay TV, information technology solution. Because Mozambique is still wild market, there are many things to do while Viettel has strengths in fields ", Said Safura. The success of Viettel in Mozambique is the key for the Group to open the doors to neighboring areas. From Mozambique, Viettel officially had more and more markets such as Burundi, Cameroon, Tanzania.
