contingency plan for the worst case scenario. The purpose of this is to attempt to make the world a better place, when the time comes, if needed. “Always act in the way that will produce the greatest overall amount of good in the world” (Farias, 2012). Even though, this act is something that's not needed now, and may be never needed, it is still for the greater good and well-being of humanity. So their purpose is really just trying to make the world a better place, and these actions are really being done to bring the most benefit to humanity. By having this mentality, it is also helping with guiding people's action to attempt to produce a better world. The 1st green revolution was a great technology breakthrough in the agricultural industry, it boosted harvest and helped with lowering poverty. From the 1st green revolution, these short stemmed crops that were developed solved basic problems in these third world countries with their original crops. Which were too long and would fall over when fed with fertilizer. These new seeds "caught on like smart phones. Over the next 40 years the green revolution spread round the world, helping ensure that, where its seeds were planted, famines became things of the past." Are these multi-billion companies really helping the world in any way or is it just a monetary game to them? Despite what long term outcomes that may or may not occur, these biotech companies are providing help and solutions to people in developing countries, even if it's just short term. By having these developing counties planting the GE/GM seeds, it is helping them reduce hungry and poverty "right now". These people in these third world countries have to face the decision of death by starvation or plant GE/GM seeds and live, the choice is obvious. From the point of view of these biotech companies they are solving an "immediate" problem for these people in the developing counties by "emphasizes the value of fostering relationships, paying as much attention to personal details as abstract principles, and recognizing the ethical importance of affection and care for others." (Farias, 2012). They are saving the people now and having to worry about what comes next or what will come next later. Kantian Ethics When it comes to HACCP and precautionary principle, it all comes down to duty at the end of the day. In a sense, the precautionary principle is a part of kantian ethic itself, "if an action or policy has a suspected risk of causing harm to the public or to the environment, in the absence
