In such cases where power and lighting loads are metered separately, the two services shall be combined and supplied through one meter. 5.6 Meter Socket Connections 5.6.1 Single Phase 120 Volt 2 Wire Service The meter socket shall be of the 4-jaw type with the neutral connected to the right line terminal. For connection diagram, see Appendix B, Figure 1. 5.6.2 Single Phase 120/240 Volt 3 Wire Service The meter socket shall be of the 4-jaw type with the line conductors connected to the top terminals. The neutral shall be bonded in the centre of the socket with No. 6 AWG, insulated copper wire. For connection diagram, see Appendix B, Figure 2. 5.6.3 Network from a 120/208 Volt 3 Phase 4 Wire Wye System The meter socket shall be of the 5-jaw type with the neutral conductor connected to the 5th terminal located between the left-hand line and load terminals, at 9 o’clock position on the socket. This terminal shall be of the lay-in type or equivalent with the lug being large enough to accommodate the full size of the line conductor. For connection diagram, see Appendix B, Figure 3. 5.6.4 Three Phase 3 Wire Ungrounded Delta The meter socket shall be of the 5-jaw type with the centre or B phase conductor connected to the 5th terminal. This terminal shall be of the lay-in type or equivalent with the lug being large enough to accommodate the full size of the line conductor. For connection diagram, see Appendix B, Figure 4. 5.6.5 Three Phase 4 Wire Wye The meter socket shall have seven terminals, 7-jaw type. The neutral or grounded conductor terminal may be the lay-in type or terminated at a terminal block in the socket, with a NO. 6 AWG, insulated copper wire or bus bar connection being made to the neutral terminal for the meter. This conductor will be connected to the third from the left terminal on the load side of the meter socket. For connection diagram, see Appendix B, Figure 5.
