According to the BoCK, the People domain “covers the essential knowledge relating to people” (The SHRM Body of Competency and Knowledge, 2018). On the other hand, BoCK classifies Business Acumen, Consulation, and Critical Evaluation as part of the Business cluster. These are necessary traits for HR professionals to implement solutions needed for the organization. Business Acumen is the understanding of the day-to-day operations of the business. Consultation is the collaboration with company stakeholders to figure out problems and finding solutions to resolve these issues. Lastly, Critical Evaluation is the data gathering and interpretation to create decisions based on the needs of the company. Talent Acquisition is a role that the HR department of every company is known. They are entrusted to hire talent who can fill positions and ultimately help the company with their production. In order to do so, HR professionals will have to have knowledge of the needs of the different departments that they are hiring for. Critical Evaluation is important in this process. By reading data and identifying the needs of the different departments through the data presented, HR professionals are able to make informed decisions on how they can move forward with their Talent Acquisition for the requisitions that they may have. Because of the data available, HR professionals can also make adjustments with their acquisition process thus giving them more flexibility when they move forward. Critical Evaluation as a whole is detrimental subcategory of the Business Cluster. The data gathered by HR professionals will not just help in the Talent Acquisition process but this can also help in combatting turnover by reinforcing programs to improve retention. Overall, when making decisions, it is important the HR professionals have the data needed so that they can counter any issues that may arise because any mistakes that might occur can cause the organization unnecessary spending. The bulk of the domain mainly discusses Employee and Labor relations as it relates to the dealings of the organization with the employees regarding their terms of employment (The SHRM Body of Competency and Knowledge, 2018).
