get to experience true living than the wealthy because they appreciate nature more. They develop
an understanding living life in simplicity. In comparison to the wealthy who don’t have or want that
access. Just like today, the wealthy are confined in materialistic things and places and do not work
hard for what they want. They do not see what the poor go through so they do not have the same
viewpoints and cannot relate to their problems.
`This passage is closely linked to our world today. Back in Thoreau’s time, people were
consumed in other materials rather than noticing how magnificent our world is. Today is the same,
and it is worse. We now have even more resources like technology, to occupy our atention and let
us consume unimportant things. Although it can be beneficial, we do not understand the concept of
living simple with just necessities or being one with nature like he did. We are the same as his
society and that is how this passage is significant. He has a strong relationship with the community
in a nature sense. He involves himself only with those who are like him and are not superficial. He
keeps to himself because nature provides him with true tranquility.
