So how is it that we can address gun violence? Great question, let’s talk a little about David Kennedy, a professor of crime prevention, who designed a program to reduce gun violence in early 1996. In this case, David Kennedy focuses on homicide victimizations (caused by guns) among youths in Boston. The assessment began with the study of two elements; a direct law enforcement attack on illicit firearms traffickers supplying youths with guns and an attempt to generate a strong deterrent to gang violence. In order to accomplish the first element, researchers initially concluded that most youth homicides were committed with illegal guns therefore, direct law enforcement interventions were put in place against illicit firearms trafficking. Second, probation/parole officers, churches, and other community groups offered gang members services, had meetings, and they offered different types of assistance. These activities definitely helped with decreasing youth homicides in Boston by 63 percent per month, helped with decreasing shots fired by 32 percent per month, and helped with decreasing gun assaults by 25 percent per month.

In conclusion, it should not be that easy to own a gun in America, individuals should seek help, and all gun laws should be regulated. All the gun violence mentioned above were over words, protection and psychological problems. I believe that the age restriction to own a gun should go up to twenty-five years of age because, at the age of twenty-one, most individuals are not mature. A shootout can easily erupt over some harsh words. Once they see a friend with a gun, they all want a gun and they will find a way to get a gun. Selling a gun friend to friend is definitely an option in the state of Florida. At this point, everyone has the urge to be protected and own a gun. Only individuals who pass a special assessment should have the right to own a gun. We should consider their family history, their history, background and study their behavior. Another good way to reduce guns and crime is to track each gun to prevent anyone who is not qualified to own a gun. There should also be a designated place where individuals or gang members can go to for curricular activities. Credit to: - taliban-god-punish-gays/ | |
