Nonetheless, the Sons of Gestapo were the terror group that the media clung to as the responsible party. At the time of the initial investigation, no one had ever heard of the Sons of Gestapo, and since then they have not been heard of (Hajek ,2015). It makes one think the four found notes from the group claiming responsibility was a distraction, a red herring to distract the investigators while the real culprit(s) escaped. Even though the FBI investigated Amtrak employees as well as Arizona locals, no one was deemed responsible and the case remains unsolved. Given the strategic and careful planning, derailment and evasion of persecution; on topof the wild goose chase that investigators were first sent on, I strongly believe this was an inside job. The American public had just lived through domestic terror attacks and government failures between the Oklahoma City Bombing that same year (Oklahoma City Bombing, 2016) and the Waco Siege years before (Waco, 2011).
