information from him. Why would he give Prendick the opportunity to inhabit the land and observe what it has to offer if he did not want him involved with the experiment that seems to be taking place? The conversation Montgomery and Prendick have when Montgomery admits that he is glad he saved Prendick is a bit peculiar. At this point the reader understands that something strange in taking place on the island but we are unaware of how Prendick will aid with said experiments. It is unclear whether Montgomery is glad to have saved him because he is the next victim or if his knowledge of science could benefit Moreau and his assistant. Montgomery begins to warn Prendick of the possible dangers of the island but hesitates and fails to complete his statement. Perhaps he does not want to scare Prendick into escaping from the island and in turn ruining the chances of using him in the experiment, but if Montgomery had the initial intention of using him it would seem that he should not even hint at possible flaws of the island. Montgomery’s actions display possible regret for saving Prendick even though he says otherwise. He could be feeling remorse because of the somewhat personal relationship he has formed with Prendick.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
