Hypothesis It is estimated that if the temperature of water is at a high heat intensity, then the solute, in this case being the tablet, it will dissolve faster. Variables The variables for this experiments were: Independent variable: The temperature of water Dependent variable: The time it takes the solute to dissolve Control Variables: Temperature, Tablet, Time, Amount of water, Thermometer, Tap Water. Materials 3 Beakers Tap Water

ROBERT VAN DEN ABEELE DISSOLVING SUBSTANCES LABORATORY Tablet Heating Device Thermometer Timer Procedure Steps for Room Temperature Water 1.For the First step, pour tap water into the three beakers (approximately 150mL). 2.Place Thermometer into the beaker with water and record temperature. 3. Place tablet (solute) into the beaker. As soon as the tablet reaches the water start recording the time it takes for the tablet to dissolve into the solvent. 4. Repeat same procedure for the 2 remaining beakers. Steps for Hot Water 1.Heat water with heating device no more than 70 degrees celsius, but not any less than 50 degrees. 2. Quickly but steadily, place thermometer and record temperature of beaker. 3. Place tablet into beaker and record as soon as it reaches the water with the timer.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
