ADDITIONAL NETWORK MEMBERSName:Janelle CantuAcademic or professional:AcademicWhy I selected this individual and/or team and how they will support my success in the MSN program as a practicing nurse:I chose Janelle because she has been a valuable resource in my enrollment process to Walden. I like that I can email or call her with any questions and she responds quickly. I will continue to use her throughout my program for any questions I may have.
Week 2 | Part 2: Academic Resources and StrategiesI have identified the following academic resources and/or strategies that can be applied to success in the nursing practice in general or my specialty in particular.Directions: In the space below Identify and describe at least three academic resourcesor strategies that can be applied to the MSN program, and at least threeprofessional resourcesthat can be applied to success in the nursing practice in general or your specialty in particular. For each, explain how you intend to use these resources, and how they might benefit you academically and professionally.ACADEMIC RESOURCE/STRATEGY 1 I have chosen clinical rotations as my first academic resource strategy. While we haven’t quite yet got to the clinical part of the program, I am very excited to start. Clinical is going to be the chance to put everything together and get a feel for what I will be doing once I graduate. Just like when I was in RN school, I learned the most from doing hands-on experience. I will learn valuable and priceless skills and tools to be successful during school and after graduation. These preceptors will also become important professional resources after graduation. I will be able to use my clinical preceptors for potential job offers and references. ACADEMIC RESOURCE/STRATEGY 2The writing center at Walden is and will be an important academic resource for me during this program. I haven’t been in school for 10 years and the thought of writing papers and APA format is a little daunting. I like that the university provides resources like this to ease the mind of students transitioning to online studies or just getting back into school after a long break. ACADEMIC RESOURCE/STRATEGY 3The facebook group for MSN students beginning Jul-Aug 2019 has already become a good academic resource and it’s only the second week of classes. Many of us have been networking with each other through the group by clarifying questions and just encouraging each other. I will continue to use the facebook group throughout this program to connect with other classmates all over the country.
PROFESSIONAL RESOURCE/STRATEGY 1The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) is a professional organization Iplan to join in the near future. Their website offers many resources for not only current Nurse Practitioners but student Nurse Practitioners. The AANP hosts conferences that are perfect for networking which can lead to potential career advancement and job opportunities.
