Patient satisfaction levels were comparatively higher in other departments. Low levels of patient satisfaction in the emergency department indicate possible issues associated with the quality of patient care. According to Chiou et al. (2018), “several factors, including healthcare outcomes and quality, influence patients’ expectations of healthcare services.” Possible types of factors that may affect patient satisfaction include: Waiting times Efficiency of the workflow in each department Patient safety Management of patient health information (including information security and proper documentation) Research on possible relationships between the listed factors and patient satisfaction will be conducted in the future and patient surveys will be incorporated in it. If any of the factors (such as longer waiting times or lack of patient safety) are found to be the root causes of lower levels of patient satisfaction, proper interventions will be implemented to improve on these factors and patient satisfaction.
