commodity. It is similar to the slavery system, which has been abandoned since it is disrespectful to the life. People set the courts and laws to ensure the justice and keep social order. Killing animals to make the commodity would not be a respectful way to treat the animals especially under the ban. It is not only ruining of the society order but also the justice. Under cultural relativism and ethical egoism, a complete ban on ivory is hard to be achieved. Willis states that although over a hundred countries signed the ban and China announced the banning of trading ivory domestically, the trading continues (Willis, 2017). Africa has few resources and ivory would be the African countries’ mainly income resources. In the Battle for the Elephants , people mentioned that if they got paid they can burn the ivory but there would not be countries to pay for them in a long term by ethical egoism. Africa still need to use the elephants as commodities for the income. On the other hands, traditional Chinese thoughts exist over thousand years, it could not be changed. Chinese still consider elephants as symbols of peace and happiness although the way that people chase the art pieces could be changed. The market still exists.

THE PURE IVORY 8 Under utilitarianism and the social contract theory, the problem could be solved by supplier and demander. Africa need to protect the animal resources for the whole world while Asian market need to ban the trading since it is immoral for human beings. Besides, the regulation is needed. By setting up awareness and the relative law, the issue of ivory could be solved. Everyone could appreciate the purity of the ivory from the elephants instead of the art pieces.
