When I first got here In the U.S.A about six years ago, a lot of people from my high school were very ignorant when it came to Africa. I got asked a lot of stupid questions such as: did you use to live with lions and elephants? Do you speak African? How does it feel to be wearing clothes? Did you live in huts? None of those questions made sense to me and I couldn’t believe that that’s what people were thinking of Africa. I had to let them know that I had never seen any wild animals in my life, that there wasn’t a language known as “African”, and that everyone wears clothes and live in houses just like they do. Most of them were shocked to know that almost everything they thought they knew about Africans was wrong and some just refused to believe me. I couldn’t really blame them because that’s exactly what they see on TV, so of course they are going to believe it. I really wish everybody could have a chance to go visit

a country in Africa and see how beautiful it is down there. There’s always going to be stereotypes but you can’t always believe what you hear, so it’s best to get the facts and see it for yourself.
