Help to figure out what the Increments box does: Graph > Stem-and-Leaf > Help > (Scroll down the right side of the Help window to read the description of Increments at the bottom of the page.) What did entering 0.5 into the Increments box do to the stem plot? (Answer below.) (c) Look back at the original stem plot. MINITAB does not tell us, but can you guess which increment MINITAB used as a default in that stem plot? Answer: Try to confirm your answer by explicitly entering your answer as the increment for a new MINITAB stem plot. Does your answer appear to be correct? (d) Can you predict how many rows the stem plot will show if the increment is set to 1.0 ? Guess the answer BEFORE making another stem plot! Answer: Confirm your answer by making (yet another!) stem plot. (e) Compute the sample median consumer rating. Answer: (f) Run the stem plot again, this time clearing the Increments box. (This shows the original stem plot again.) From MINITAB Help , what does the number (2) in the far left column of the MINITAB output represent? (Answer below.) (g) What does the number 3 directly above the (2) represent? (Answer below.) 4

Exercise C (Grocery check-out times) Sometimes it’s nice to have larger data sets stored as MINITAB files to avoid tedious data entry. In fact, there’s a data file that stores all 50 entries from one of our Notebook examples. Find Topic 2 Example 3 in the Notebook. 1. From the Minitab Reports page on the Stats Website, click open the file named Grocery . ( MINITAB should open, showing the data.) NOTE: If the data file does not open and the error message “unknown App” appears, then download Grocery to the Desktop instead. Then use File > Open > (Navigate to Desktop) > (Click Grocery open) It might be nice to order the data from smallest to largest. Type the title Ordered Checkout Times

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
