The Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) is a set of health care procedure codes based on the American Medical Association's Current Procedural Terminology. ICD-10-PCS codes for the Vagus nerve stimulator placed for the treatment of seizures is defined by the 3M Coding Reference-CPT Assistant as “Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) therapy is a neurostimulator therapy delivered from a small pacemaker-like generator implanted in the chest that sends preprogrammed, intermittent, mild electrical pulses through the vagus nerve in the neck to the brain” (Guidelines PCS, 2018). When one approaches the documenting of the procedure through ICD-10PCS, one can follow a logical sequence specific from the vagus nerve itself to the insertion of the rechargeable stimulator SetPoint is using. The resulting code is 0JH60CZ, a billable medical procedure code. Local Medical Review Policy (LMRP) is an administrative and educational tool. LMRP is a tool to assist providers, physicians and suppliers in submitting correct claims for payment (Local Medical Review Policy (LMRP), 2018). Local policies outline how auditors will review the claims to ensure that they meet Medicare coverage requirements. The Centers of Medicare Services requires that LMRP’s be consistent with the national guidelines. The medical entity can face violations and face high charges including entity shut down for trying to pass off

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
