He had a great personality, very optimistic,and he was the first president to make regular use of the radio. They were called “firesidechats” He explained his programs to the people through these chats. He also helped buildconfidence in the Roosevelt administration.Journalist reporters had a lot of respect for him and they never photographed him in hiswheelchair. Many people did not even know that his legs were paralyzed. His wife was areformer and a humanitarian. They formed a political partnership. Roosevelt did not relyon image alone, he constructed an ambitious program.
