suspect anyway, at least the further back you go. Especially be prepared to pick out which empires, kingdoms, etc. were active at a given time. An example of this would be if I told you to select which group of kingdoms or empires were active in the 1 st c. BCE. One correct subset of answers would be the Roman, Han Chinese, and Hellenistic Greek. You can find chronology lists with the introduction to each lecture in the course reader as well as on the first slide of each lecture. Geography We are not going to put maps up on the exam, but be prepared to address questions such as the following: Which of the following rivers is in China? (Yellow, etc.)

Kegerreis-HST 2A Which of the following groups bordered on the Hellenistic Greeks of Bactria? (Mauryan Indian dynasty, etc.) There will be other types of questions, but they will all rely on material I have discussed in lecture. You can find several maps on each of my lecture slides. Reading Questions When preparing for the reading questions, make sure to think about the context in which each text was written. Make sure you know which society it belonged to, its author (if known), the type of document, as well as its chronological placement. Several of the reading based questions will address the discussion questions placed at the start of each text. Others might ask you to analyze a line of text and define its importance. Others will ask you to connect readings to a specific course theme.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
