ASSESSMENT TASK 1: DESCRIPTION The short essay (500 words) will focus on your ability to communicate in a formal written format and provide an introduction to academic writing. The essay will be used to evaluate your written communication skill level and provide feedback to assist in developing your writing skills further. The essay should have an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and have a minimum of two scholarly sources in your APA Reference List. The essay should be presented in Times New Roman Font (font size 12) with 1.5 line spacing. An electronic version of your short essay should be submitted through the relevant Safe Assignment Drop Box which is accessible via the Assessment area in the subject’s Learn JCU site. Your essay must be submitted via Safe Assignment so as it can be checked for plagiarism. This essay based assessment piece will also be available for optional resubmission in Week 10 of the study period for those who wish to take the opportunity to rewrite it. This opportunity presents you with the potential of improving your initial essay mark and demonstrating that you are advancing your written skills. This optional resubmit will be due on Sunday 29 th January via safe assignment [by 11.59pm]. ASSESSMENT TASK 1: CRITERIA SHEET - See pages 16 & 17 of this subject outline for details. ASSESSMENT TASK 2 : Mid Semester Test Aligned course & subject learning outcomes SLO 1: Demonstrate an understanding of the value and significance of interpersonal & intrapersonal communication with respect to successful communication in both business and social settings; SLO 4: Evaluate the effectiveness of different forms of communication across varying situations. CLO K1: Demonstrate essential knowledge necessary for a career in business related professions. Weighting 20% To be Held To be held IN CLASS. Week 6 Thursday 22 nd December commencing @ 10am sharp Duration / Format 40 Minutes [40 Multiple Choice Questions] ASSESSMENT TASK 2: Description This Mid Semester Test will consist of forty multiple choice questions related to the content covered in Weeks 1 through to 5 of the subject’s schedule and delivery.
