being put forward here, and how does James respond? That there is no faith without work at all and people who only have faith it will not do anything to them. 2:18-19 – a different position on the matter is set forward. What is it, and what makes it different from the one explored in 2:14-17? How might James’ response be clarified? What is his point? The difference here that the first party is faith without work, but the second one is faith shown in work. Clearly, James believes works are essential if we are to be saved. His question, “Can faith save you?” in 2:14 implies that “faith alone” cannot save you (see 2:24). But what kind of “works” does he have in mind, and how does his definition differ from the way Paul uses the term? The kind of world that james has in mind is like helping the poor and doing what can be done to help them. His definition is different because the kind of works he is talking about is like helping others and paul diffusion is that people need to live good, honest. 3. Provide at least 10 observations that struck you from your reading. What questions are raised in your mind?

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
