Introduction Le rapport de l humanit é à son environnement, c est- à -dire la mani è re dont l une transforme l autre et dont le second permet à la premi è re de vivre, est l objet de l ’é cologie humaine, encore appel é e (car l homme est un animal politique) « é cologie politique » . La d é mographie, puis l ’é conomie, sont les principaux d é ter- minants de ce rapport. Depuis l aube de l histoire, le progr è s é conomique et l arti- ficialisation du milieu semblaient ê tre les instruments d une é mancipation irr é versible de l humanit é par rapport aux contraintes de la « capacit é de charge » de son environnement.
