Issuing a Component Request to Schedule a Batch Workflow You can set up a batch to run a workflow process at a defined interval. For example, a workflow that runs at 7 A.M. every Monday. A component request is issued in order to schedule a batch workflow. To issue a component request to schedule a batch workflow 1 In the Siebel client, navigate to the Administration-Server Configuration screen, Enterprises, then the Component Definitions view. 2 In the Component Request form, click New. 3 In the Component/Job field, click the selection button. The Component/Jobs dialog box displays. 4 Choose Workflow Process Batch Manager. 5 In the Component Request Parameters form, click New. 6 In the Name field, click the selection button, then choose Workflow Process Name from the dialog box. Table 28. Parameters of the Workflow Process Batch Manager Display Name Description Workflow Process Name Required. Name of the workflow process to execute. Search Specification Search specification that identifies the work items to process. The Search Specification parameter is a generic parameter that is shared by Workflow Management server components. However, this parameter is only used by the Workflow Process Batch Manager component. A Search Specification parameter that is defined for a component other than Workflow Process Batch Manager is not used.

Usage of the Repeating Component Request You can use the Repeating Component Request feature in conjunction with the workflow process to schedule the workflow component to be executed at a predetermined time. For an example workflow that benefits from a repeating component request, see “Example of Defining a Workflow Process That Traverses a Record Set to Close Service Requests That Are Obsolete” on page 264 . For more information, see Siebel Server Administration Guide . Usage of the Search Specification Parameter You can define a search specification to limit the number of records that are evaluated when a workflow process is run in batch. If you do not define a search specification, then the Workflow Process Batch Manager executes the workflow for each record of a particular type in the Siebel application. For example, if there are 100 SRs, then the Workflow Process Batch Manager executes the workflow 100 times, one time against each SR. The Search Specification parameter on the Workflow Process Batch Manager is used to execute the search specification on the primary business component of the business object that is defined in the Business Object property of the workflow process. For each fetched record, the Workflow Process Batch Manager starts the workflow and sets the Object Id process property as the current active row.
