During this time women still had no rightful place in this world even though they were still making contribution to this society. When you look at the Virgin of Guadalupe she represents two thing that I can take away from this work. The first one was standard as a spiritual/religious and as a woman she was just as powerful as man depicted in this artwork. It gave a lot of women hope and strength that helped them endure much of these trying time during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Even though woman first gain their right to vote back in the early 1920’s.
In this artwork just by looking at the very design from the color structure to of the overlay. If you look at the assorted colors, you can see the difference in the view. Giving it almost this three-dimensional view that makes her look like she is coming right at you. There is this theory that even though she was a spiritual representation, she is shown to have the power of being able to withstand some of the harshest times you can think of.
