Planning for Canvas Outages and Computer Problems You are responsible for completing course requirements by their established deadlines despite any planned and unplanned Canvas outages or problems with your own computer. You should keep these prospective outages and problems in mind when you map out a schedule for completing the work you must do for this course. To make sure you do not end up with a zero or unnecessarily-diminished score on a test, I urge you to take each test no later than the 24 hours BEFORE the initial deadline for completing it. Since the initial deadline for completing each test is 5 PM on a Friday, this means I am recommending you begin it no later than 5 PM the preceding Thursday. Course Outline: Please note: Topics & scheduling are subject to change at the discretion of the instructor. Week 1 (8:00:00 AM Monday 1/7 – 5:00:00 PM Friday 1/11): You get access to Blackboard on Friday 1/4 In class on Tuesday 1/8: Introductions, overview of course, your questions In class on Thursday 1/10: Video, “Introducing Sociology” Outside of class you should : 1. Carefully read through the syllabus. Familiarize yourself thoroughly with it. 2. Get the textbook if you have not already done so. 3. Read through the slides in the PPT re: Academic Integrity 4. Install the Respondus Lockdown Browser on your computer. Take the Syllabus Exam and Academic Integrity Quiz if you feel prepared to do so [The initial deadline for taking these tests is 5 PM Friday of NEXT week (1/18)] Week 2 (8:00:00 AM Monday 1/14 – 5:00:00 PM Friday 1/18): These are the materials we will be discussing in class this week: 1.
