i. To better my disco ball, I would suggest that the symbolism of its switch be altered. As the line and circle are completely unrelated and useless for identifying light settings, they should be changed. Instead of double lines, the rainbow setting should be identified with a universal symbol, such as a pigment wheel (see below). The white lights can be initiated by a single circle, pointing towards a monogamous hue. In harnessing universal symbolism, designers of my disco ball can utilize psychology to make

functionality easier. This slight change would make a world of difference. Part V- Essay Obesity, a complex physical and psychological issue, cannot be interpreted by one driving force. Rather, the mality is a mix of developmental, biological, and mental disorders that culminate to cripple one’s self confidence and longevity. In order to understand this disease with greater clarity, one must draw multifaceted insight. By examining various biopsychosocial lenses, obesity’s distinct origin may be pieced together to form a fuller picture. Obesity, in simple terms, is extreme fatness. This is the result of multiple behaviors, including binging, forfeiting physical activity, and neglecting metabolic issues. When considering the behavioral lens of psychology, one analyzes the triggers associated with obesity. Examining various aspects of behavior, psychologists use observed associations and triggers to understand an obese patient’s current state. In doing so, they can facilitate targeted recovery. Take an extreme case of emotional eating for example. Chrissy Metz, a popular actress, admits to memories of extensive happiness when she and her father went out for ice cream. Unhealthy foods eventually associated with immense bliss, Metz found herself emotionally eating during periods of unrest, recreating happiness through food to escape conflict. When Chrissy’s father passed away suddenly, her overeating exploded. Binging on comfort food when immense grief swelled, Metz found herself at a deleterious weight as she sought to recreate times with her

father. Her health and emotions linked, behavioral psychologists work to aid Metz’s delima. Exploring her associations with food and working to undermine Chrissy’s triggers harbor relief. Scientific evaluation of the brain and body also offers valuable insight on obesity. Biological psychology analyzes the biological processes behind behavior. Honing in on inheritance, physiology, and chemical composition, it scientifically interprets individual actions. In obesity, biochemical malities are prevalent and severe. In the novel, The Dorito Effect , author Mark Schatzker accredits obesity to modern food. Examining the chemical composition of mainstream food, he notes that food is no longer enough to fuel society. Due to selective harvesting and genetic modification, glucose has replaced the nutrients once present in American crops. When one regularly eats foods devoid of sustenance, they are unable to replenish the body.
