Language Skills Guessing vocabulary in context The comprehension of readers, especially in reading second language, i.e. English, depends on their ability and capacity in having knowledge of vocabulary from second language. “Good reading comprehension depends on understanding the words you are reading. The more words you recognize and understand in a text, the better your comprehension will be” (Mikulecky& Jeffries, 2007, p. 26). When a reader deals with difficult word found in the passage, a reader, sometimes, stops their reading and looks up certain difficult words in the dictionary, electronically or manually. However, this particular way, for some experts, seems ineffective in reading process. Looking up certain difficult words while reading may postpone or delay our cognitive process in
