The painting illustrated what most believe to be the biblical creation of man narrative from the Book of Genesis. In this book of the bible God gives life to Adam, and he is known as the first man. “The Creation of Adam is one of the great jewels of Western art, though it and the rest of the Sistine Chapel ceiling suffered the ill effects of centuries of smoke that had caused the ceiling to darken considerably” (Italian renaissance, 2012).
Noah and the FloodThe Flood was a fresco painting form part of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel painted in 1508-1512 by Italian artist Michelangelo (Michelangelo Gallery, 2016).“Michelagniolodi Lodovico di Lionardo di Buonarroti Simone was born in Caprese in Tuscany. The son of a civil servant, Michelangelo attended Latin School and studied painting in the workshop of the Ghirlandaio brothers as well as sculpture with Bertoldo, a formal pupil of Donatello” (Michelangelo Gallery, 2016) .This painting also known as “The Flood” is a life size depiction of what took place during the flood during the biblical times. Its size is approximately 10 feet by 18 feet in size. For the viewer looking at the picture, on the left of the scene there can be seen a group of desperate people seeking protection on a mountain top. It shows them looking for safety from the increasing water levels (Buonarroti, 1508).

It was also the city that was hit the hardest by the Great Depression. Industrial production and the workforce were a third of what they had been before the 1929 Crash (Khan Academy, 2020).
Man at the Crossroad Diego Rivera was commissioned to create the ever controversial Man at the Crossroads painting, for the Rockefeller Center in 1933.The original work included pictures of women drinking alcohol, cells depicting sexually transmitted diseases, Leon Trotsky and a portrait of Lenin, which upset Rockefeller, who commissioned the work. He demanded that the face of Lenin be changed, but Rivera refused. Rockefeller immediately paid for the work, dismissed Rivera, and covered the mural. The original Man at the Crossroad in the Rockefeller Center was smashed and hauled away in 1934. Rivera, who was determined to have his mural shown, re-created it at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City and renamed the piece Man, Controller of the Universe. (Man at the Crossroad, 2010)
