Sample and Setting The population sample is explicitly described both in the abstract and methods section of the article. The population is approximated at 6,452 individuals comprising on 55 percent women and 30 percent Blacks – this was the sample used for the final analysis although the initial sample was 12,146 (Zhu et al., 2017). The article provides a broad analysis of the sample and the different traits of the population including gender, age, education, and health complications among other factors. The sample size used in this research is representative of the general population and given that the researchers opted for REGARDS, there were no sampling biases. What is more, the involvement of the sample on a longitudinal basis about four years lowers any validity or reliability biases (Stroubouki, 2012). The best possible method of sampling to enhance information richness and address the research problem was used for this study. Saturation was attained in the aspect of recruitment of women for the research study. At a specific point, the recruitment of more women was stopped because the study provided no new information contributing to the developing theory. Data Collection and Measures The data collection and measures utilized in this study consisted of organizing concepts into categories based on how they explain physical activity and cognitive functioning

ARTICLE CRITIQUE 6 within the study population. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analyses to compare patterns and differences (Stroubouki, 2012). No conceptual or operational definitions are provided but the methods are harmonious with the study variables. As previously mentioned, the study relied on interviews in addition to follow-up assessments over a four-year period. Instruments including Six-Item Screener (SIS) and various tests are described comprehensively in the research. All the instruments are in accord with each other and were good choices with regard to the study’s problem stamen, variables, and sample. Taken as a whole, the data collection methods were suitable and information was gleaned from the participants using more than one method – this helped in achieving triangulation (Zhu et al., 2017). There massive amount of data collected from 12,146 individuals (6,452 used in the final analysis) is rich and of adequate depth, making it valid and reliable based on the study’s objectives. Procedures Research procedures are described adequately and appear suitable for the current study. The authors used various interventions telephone surveys, physical assessments, and follow-ups to gauge the impacts of the interventions of the subjects. All the participants numbering 12,146 wore accelerometers, were given physical exams, and were allocated the SIS. There is evidence of fidelity of the intervention since the authors outline the initial numbers of users and all variances that occurred within the sample. Given that all participants gave informed consent, it
